May 5, 2012 was my first wedding this year and I’ve been looking forward to it for almost 2 years! Ryoko first contacted me when her and Brendan got engaged in October of 2010! I knew I would enjoy their wedding after shooting their engagement session. They are two of the friendliest people I’ve met and I love how obvious their love is for one another.
We lucked out with amazing weather on their wedding day. I showed up at Ryoko’s parents place where everyone was getting ready and loved how calm and relaxed everyone was. As I turned into the living room, there hung her gorgeous David’s Bridal wedding gown in the large window, with sunlight flooding in past it. Her jewelled Nine West flats were perfect for the day! I loved the sentimental touch of having pictures of both her grandfather’s pinned to her bouquet. Throughout the day it was evident that these two men are still very much a big part of Ryoko’s life and I loved that she incorporated them into her wedding day in such a personal way.
The girls were stunning in their David’s Bridal dresses and all the make-up was done by Denise Palmer, and hair by Brianne Sameshima. Brendan looked amazingly dashing in his Vera Wang suit. Nice choice, Brendan (or Ryoko
!) The flowers were created by Katrina of Katsura Designs.
There was no shortage of laughter during their ceremony at Gilmore Park United Church in Richmond. After the ceremony we joined the bridal party in Steveston at the old Britannia Shipyard for some portraits. This was a great group of men and women that Ryoko and Brendan had beside them on their wedding day. Then it was time to head to Mayfair Lakes Golf Course for the reception. The room was beautifully decorated with decor from Champagne Dreams, cupcakes galore from Cakes by Meg, and the direction of Reshmi from Breathtaking Events. The speeches told that evening were probably the best I’ve heard yet in my how many years of going to weddings! I was even laughing and genuinely enjoying myself!
Ryoko and Brendan, thank you so much for asking me to be part of your wedding day! I really enjoyed myself and you two are truly amazing people. I hope your day was everything you dreamed that it would be and more!
